What the Audience Thought
Edinburgh Festival 2016 - Pleasance
Steve Paterson – 26 Aug 2016, 9:21pm
Cannot recommend this show highly enough. An captivating tale told by an incredibly talented actor.
Another member of the audience mentioned to me that every so often in the Fringe you come across a "little gem" and this was one she found. I can only agree with her.
Chris Cooper – 21 Aug 2016, 1:52pm
Absolutely MUST see, totally gripping from start to finish and suitable for all. Daniel tells the story from the perspective of a 10 year old boy with twists and turns all the way through. Do not miss this! Or if you do catch it on tour www.aregularlittlehoudini.co.uk

A really enjoyable and interesting show from a master of the monologue! Absolutely wonderful! One minor observation ... it takes more than two minutes to cross the River Usk via the Newport Transporter Bridge; however the quality of the show allows for a little poetic licence!! Well done ... looking forward to next year!
Helen and Darren – 21 Aug 2016, 1:54pm
A great way to spend an hour. Brilliant story, well written and performed. One of the best things we have ever seen (and we have seen a lot!). What a talented man. Can't recommend highly enough. 😀
Val Aviss– 10 Aug 2016, 7:56pm
a wonderfully evocative story set in Edwardian working class Wales sreen through the eyes of a young boy who idolises Harry Houdini and dreams to emulate him.as a,star escapologist. The story incorporates sociial history, findustrial real life events, family relationships,, gripping drama, humour, pathos, hopes and dreams, all delivered charmingly and with great humanity and vivacity by Daniel Llewelyn- Williams.. He holds the audience rapt in the palms of his hands from beginning to end. A one off..do go and see it! You won' t regret it!

Simply wonderful show. Theatre at it's storytelling best. An amazing performance which had me riveted for the entire hour as the story unfolded with humour and real emotion. As if this wasn't enough there is real magic in the mix too. A real gem of a show, please go and see it you will not be disappointed.
Pernille Dahl Johnsen
What a moving and endearing story! I got teary-eyed - seldom do. Go see it!

A great show. With no scenery and little props DLW held the audience with his delivery. He painted the picture with his words . Weĺ done we all enjoyed!
Andrew Pennington
We saw 6 shows over 2 days and this was the one that made the trip worthwhile. You can see All Murray et all on the tele, but theatre like this has to be seen in the flesh.
Tom Barton
Fantastic one man show that was funny, extremely thought provoking and portrayed a very poignant time in history. Daniel was very talented and I am sure will be back performing to even bigger audiences
Becky Bolton
Fantastic one man show which is thought provoking, emotional and engaging - a welcome break from the comedy of the fringe whilst still being entertaining
Philip Holden
Tremendous one man show that transports you to early 20th Century Newport, Wales. Engages, entertains - the sleight of hand is wonderful - and moves. Daniel Llewelyn-Williams is well worth watching - completely watchable. Beautifully interwoven story of magic, heroes, the working class and , in the end, triumph.

A superbly written play delightfully illuminated by a top quality, highly charged and engaging performance by Daniel LLewelyn-Williams. From the start to finish a powerful performance that left me in a joyously emotional state, so much so that I requested to see Daniel to thank him personally for such a wondrous stage performance. Sincerely, my stand out show of the Fringe this year. Thank you so very much. Please make the time to see this man's craft.
Caroline Howitt
Captivating! Beautiful man, beautiful story. Excellently pitched tonal shifts, worked through with a sense of magic as an enduring metaphor for the power of words themselves to conjure and transform. Great performance.
George Finnie
A superb show. Moving, intelligent and beautifully acted. Absolutely recommended.
Steve
A superb one-man piece.
I saw this memorable play a few days ago and it has more than a few beautifully rendered moments that I will always remember.
Daniel LLewelyn-Williams conjures up a fascinating and beautiful story of childhood fascination, escapism and dare-devil antics. It's also a play about family, belonging, ambition and loss.
I would be surprised if there is anyone alive who would not be touched by his energetic and careful delivery. All done with little else but a case, a hat, and some trinkets. Wonderful.
Highly recommended.
Wayne Beecham
Absolutely superb! An interesting, exciting story told with great pace. Many thanks for the experience! A "must see" at the fringe this year!
Graham Bull
A 'magic' show with a difference. The difference being the story behind the 'little boy' of the title. A touching tale, well told and acted, together with some magic. A lovely experience.
Stephen Henry
A wonderful bit of storytelling delivered in a brilliant performance.
liz Drewett
What a fantastic show. It is a rare thing to be so held by one performer. This excellent actor takes you with him back into the family life, stories, dreams and desires of a young boy in Newport. I laughed, I cried. I was amazed! Good job kid!!!
Lynn barwell
Fantastic show. Great story and great acting. Strongly recommend.
Josephine Tarnowski
Superb moving engaging - Daniel is a terrific actor and storyteller. Has sparked my interest in history of Newport - a town that does not these days have a very high profile. Thank you Daniel and all the production team for a memorable hour at the Fringe.
